The movie “Road To Sangam” is inspired by the event of discovery of Mahatma Gandhi’s ashes in a bank locker some years ago. Bapu’s grandson Tushar Gandhi decides to immerse the ashes in Sangam of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati at Allahabad. He wants to carry the procession on the same truck that had carried Bapu’s ashes in 1948. The job of repairing the old V8 Ford Engine of that truck was given to a god fearing, devout and renowned Muslim mechanic named Hashmat Ullah (Paresh Rawal) However, Hashmat Ullah was unaware of the historic importance of that engine, because it was the same engine that carried the ashes of Mahatma Gandhi which was immersed in the Sangam. Time is critical in that days.
